We will be at the Pittsburgh Art Book Fair October 31 - November 1  

Producing exclusively handmade objects in cycles of fewer than 50 copies/edition, sub50projects explores artist projects as active entities that respond to the forces of political change, expanded collaboration, and fate over time. This project is centrally defined by generative and principled boundaries: we design, print, and bind all editions ourselves; we produce small editions to minimize the ecological footprint of our practice; if an edition sells out, it must be fundamentally transformed for the next iteration. Through the whole-hearted trust in our collective capacity for growth, sub50projects embraces the ways independent publishing resists the fixity of Western forms of knowledge/material exchange, instead embracing how artist books shape active attention, change, and relation.  


sub50projects is co-organized by Sumin Hwang & Peyton Chiang. As of May 2026, we are based across Brooklyn, NY and New Brunswick, NJ.
